Can The New Universal Remotes Really Simplify Your Life?
Can The New Universal Remotes Really Simplify Your Life?
by: Bill Urell
What a great invention, the remote control. It allows you to control many electronic gizmos in the home. The unforseen problem is that like rabbits they multiply until you forget which remote control does what to who. What we need is a remote control organizer.
One of the biggest drawbacks about old style universal remote controls was the fact that you had to input code after code into the device. This had to be done to allow it to recognize and function with all of your household electronics. Couple this with the fact that there were only a few different devices that could be plugged into your remote via remote control codes and you have a recipe for a disastrously unfriendly remote that was originally designed to simplify peoples lives. The new remote control organizers are different.
Luckily enough, however, remote control codes have begun to be abandoned in our high tech world, leaving people who purchase universal remote controls much happier and less angry customers.
Chances are that you are one of the millions of people in the United States who happens to own a massive variety of different electronic devices. You are looking for a way to have your remote controls organized. While each of these electronic products is completely necessary for a fully functioning home entertainment system, each device comes with its own remote control. Once you have accumulated a bunch of these controls, you will certainly find that you are overwhelming your coffee table with all of these unnecessary objects which are only creating clutter. Even worse, you may find that from time to time you never really use all of the controls you have amassed or you will use them once during a television watching session and then never use it again for hours.
Luckily enough, thanks to advancements in universal remote control codes, the days of having all of these remotes lying around and taking up space are soon to be gone forever. While cheaper remotes still use universal remote control codes to program in the information for your television, DVD player and all of your other gadgets, newly designed electronic devices are actually able to communicate with your universal remote and program it to know automatically find the necessary operational remote control codes. Furthermore, new universal remotes are available with LCD touch screens so that you and your family can easily program the control to work on any electronic object in your home if you want.
With just a little study, you can once again simplify your ability to control electronic devices. It is a loteasier to keep track of just one remote rather than five or ten.

Plasma TVs And Your Home Entertainment Center
Plasma TVs And Your Home Entertainment Center

It seems as if everyone these days is showing off their expensive flashy new home entertainment centers. They’re linked wirelessly to computers, have more speakers than a Rolling Stone’s concert, and cost more than a midsize luxury sedan. They feature DVD players, DVR or Tivo, CD players, MP3 players, and anything else you can imagine. The centerpiece, though, still remains the same: the television.
Plasma TVs have recently been introduced to the market. They are extremely flat television panels which make them very easy to mount on either a wall, in a cabinet or on other specially designed furniture. Plasma TVs are known for their wonderful quality and almost all plasma TVs come already equipped with an HDTV (high definition television) tuner which will allow you to watch all the HDTV channels that have been so widely discussed lately. The quality is amazingly realistic.
As mentioned before, the plasma TV is completely flat. It much more easily manipulated than conventional CRT TVs and won’t burn out like rear projection TVs and LCD TVs. Mounting the plasma TV on the wall and adding rows of seats to a home theater will surly add a commercial theater feel to any room. Along with some of the high end sound systems available on the market today, the difference between a well equipped home theater with a quality plasma TV and a commercial theater is hard to distinguish.
If mounting the plasma TV on the wall isn’t an option, try commissioning a carpenter to create a custom made cabinet. This may be a better option as it would allow for built in compartments for cords, DVDs, VHS tapes, DVD player storage, and more. Inside the cabinet, a custom mount could be created for the plasma TV. Add to this some remote control doors on the cabinet and one could have oneself a pretty Godfather-esque setup.
In conclusion, if you wish to become the talk of the neighborhood with your brand new home theater or home entertainment center, be sure to have the finest centerpiece available with a large, high quality plasma television.

Mobile Phone Batteries. What Are Your Options?
Mobile Phone Batteries. What Are Your Options?
by: Will Koh
There are a range of different mobile phone, video camera/camcorder and digital camera batteries out there with varying capacities and battery chemistry. We will explain what the differences are for each battery chemistry and try to clear up the jargon used on the labels of mobile phone batteries. There have been several developments in battery technology and below, we will outline each battery chemistry's features, pros and cons and their applications to mobile phones today.
"Memory Effect" in Batteries
Memory affect refers to the need for certain batteries to be "serviced" by regularly discharging the battery completely before recharging. Ni-Cad batteries are the main type of battery chemistry that requires this cycling and newer types of batteries such as Li-Ion and NiMH do not suffer from memory affect.
Battery Capacity Ratings
A battery capacity rating refers to the load or current that can be placed on a specific battery type. The battery capacity rating is usually measured in milliampres (mAH)
Ni-Cad (Nickel Cadmium) Batteries
In the past, majority of rechargable batteries used in portable devices such as mobile phones, camcorders and cordless phones used Nickel Cadmium as the main battery chemistry. Although this type of battery has drawbacks such as the "memory effect", it is still one of the most commonly used battery in cordless phones, CD players, Radios and other portable devices due to their low cost per battery cycle. The use of these batteries in mobile phones today is rare due to their memory effect problems and inconveniences. Despite these obvious drawbacks, it also has environmental implications due to the metal used to manufacture these batteries and are fast becoming replaced by Nickel Metal Hydride Batteries.
NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) Batteries
NiMH batteries are one of the growing battery chemistries today mainly due to the fact that it does not suffer from memory effects like a NiCad battery does. Because of this advantage, they are mainly used in Laptops and mobile phones and sometimes also as a battery source for video cameras and digital cameras. This is an important and main feature that makes NiMH batteries attractive as consumers are not burdened by having to "service" their batteries by discharging it fully before recharging. They also have a higher capacity rating compared to Ni-Cad (approx 30% higher) and Alkaline batteries, however their main drawback is that these batteries self-discharge over a short period of time which makes them not suitable for storage.
Li-Ion (Lithium-Ion) Batteries
These batteries are quite new to the market and have the lowest discharge rating compared to Ni-Cad and NiMH batteries. They do not suffer from memory effect and is one of the most commonly used type of batteries in mobile phones today. They have an excellent power to weight ratio which makes them highly attractive to portable devices such as mobile phones, video cameras and digital cameras. All our mobile phone batteries we offer are Li-Ion as they are superior compared to other battery alternatives.
Li-Polymer
This is relatively new and we are beginning to see more of these batteries appear in mobile phones today. They are considered as the best battery chemistry today for mobile devices due to their high capacity and low weight. Li-Polymer batteries do not suffer from “memory loss”.

The Ultimate Spy Mobile Phone
The Ultimate Spy Mobile Phone
by: Kingston Amadan
Technology has given spies the ultimate weapon in listening devices: the spy mobile phone. The great thing about these cell phone bugs is that they are so ordinary looking and function normally. When you are listening in, you do not look suspicious because just about everyone now has a mobile phone. Their very presence in every aspect of society is a plus. There is virtually no place that your spy mobile phone cannot go, and therefore it is the ultimate in infiltration.
The new generation of spy mobile phone allows you to listen in on conversations that are being had on the phone, as well as listening to conversations in the area of the phone when it is not actively in use. The phone is the ultimate in surveillance technology. You can send it off with your teenager to make sure that he or she is not engaging in inappropriate activities, or you can give it to your significant other and make sure she or he is not cheating on you. It is an excellent way to learn all that you need to know, and never be suspected of listening in.
You give the spy mobile phone to whomever it is that you need to listen in on (heck, get them for the whole family!). Each phone is programmed with two numbers. The first is the regular phone number that anyone can call. The second is a secret number that you choose. When you call the secret number, the phone activates without giving any sign to the person who has it. It is quietly active (even if it is not in use) allowing you to listen. If you dial in and the person is using the phone, you have instant access to both ends of the conversation. If you dial in and the phone is not in use, you can hear everything that is going on in the room.
Not only can you dial in at will, but it is also possible with the spy mobile phone to program the phone to call you. It calls you when the person is calling someone else or even when the person receives an incoming call. There is no reason for you to miss a single communication when you have the ultimate spy mobile phone.

Digital Camera Care
Digital Camera Care
by: Sara Wells
After spending money on a quality digital camera, it is important to take the time to maintain it properly. Your camera will last much longer if you take preventative measures to keep it in the best condition.
The most important, and delicate, component of your digital camera is the camera lens. This serves as your window to the world, and once scratched it will require professional intervention to fix. For this reason, it is imperative that you protect the lens. First of all, when you are not taking photos your lens cap should always be on to keep the lens clean. Do not touch the lens directly with your finger. The oils left behind by your skin will be difficult to remove, making the view blurry at best. If your lens should get dusty or dirty, use a cleaner and cloth made specifically for cleaning camera lenses.
The body of your camera should also be kept clean and free of debris. Keep the camera in a case or pouch when not in use. If it should get dirty, wipe it down with a soft dry cloth. If you camera has an LCD panel, it is acceptable to breath lightly on it to add slight bit of moisture before wiping it down with a soft cloth.
Digital cameras should be kept dry. Most cameras are not waterproof, and should not be in situations where they could be submerged in liquid or even splashed. If your camera should get wet, it is a good idea to turn it off, remove the battery, and remove the memory card. Leave the camera out to air dry for one to two days. At that time if the camera is not functioning properly you will need to contact a professional repair company or the manufacturer for advice.
In general, your camera will do best if stored in mild, dry conditions. Extreme temperatures can be damaging so try not to leave your camera in your car or any super sunny locations. Another good idea is to save the silica gel packets that come with many purchases to prevent moisture damage, and place them in the drawer or container where your camera is stored. If you plan to store your camera for a long period of time without use, you should first remove the battery from the camera. This precaution will prevent damage in case the battery should leak.
Finally, if you are planning to take photos in a location where you believe there will be a higher risk of damage from water or soil or other conditions purchase a disposable camera and leave your digital at home. Better safe than sorry.

The Pleasures Of a Luxury Watch
The Pleasures Of a Luxury Watch

Purchasing a luxury watch that is a good investment.
Many people consider luxury watches an extravagance. To them it makes little sense to spend thousands of dollars on a Rolex or a Cartier, when there are essential payments to be made. The same is true about cars. They say why spend 90,000 dollars on a brand new sports car when a sedan or a station wagon in 9,000 dollars would do just as well. After all, they both have four wheels, an engine, a steering wheel and a gas pedal and they take you where you have to go.
However, luxury watches are different! They serve many purposes. They are precision instruments that are fine-tuned for perfect accuracy, and give you the right time all the time. That's their purpose, no doubt. But luxury watches adorn the stylish and fashionable wardrobe. It's a matter of style. Some people feel naked without a belt, others feel absolutely desolate and deserted without their luxury watches. And it is not about time only. Even if they are surrounded by scores of digital clocks, cell phones, microwaves and other time-telling devices they are ill at ease without their luxury watch.
Aside from their functionality and sharp looks, luxury watches also confer a sense of status on their wearers. A stunning Rolex or Breitling can denote great taste and class every bit as much as a Jaguar or Mercedes. In fact, with the premier foreign car manufacturers diluting their brands with 30,000-dollar versions of their classic autos, one could argue that some luxury watches are a greater status symbol than some high-end vehicles.
To buy a luxury watch you need a discerning eye. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, and only a true connoisseur can tell the difference. They have a flair for style and quality. They choose their watches with as much care as they would choose a home to live in. They compare brands, quality and prices. They consider various factors such as mechanisms, escapements, complications, dials and many more aesthetic factors like watch bands and bezels. They enjoy looking at various brands as much as they love buying the watch that's close to their heart.
So if you want to add some style to your life, think of buying a luxury watch. For one thing, it's easier to carry around than a luxury car!
